The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “First Descents” showing Jan. 23-29 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

Travel from the Himalayas to The Great Trango Towers in an unforgettable evening of high-altitude storytelling—featuring two films (“Trango” and “Lhotse”) that celebrate the spirit of exploration, resilience, and the raw beauty of the vertical world. Together, these films showcase two expressions of mountain adventure, both driven by the same passion for the unknown.

Follow The North Face athlete, Jim Morrison, from the Himalaya to the Karakorum, reaching the top of the world's highest peaks, and skiing from the summits. The Lhotse Expedition took place with partner Hilaree Nelson, followed by the 2024 Great Trango Tower Expedition as Morrison returned to the mountains following the tragic loss of his partner while descending Manaslu in 2022. Jim Morrison recently descended from the summit of Mount Everest via the Hornbein Couloir on October 15.

“First Descents” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Jan. 23-29. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23, 24 and 25 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday and Thursday, Jan. 26 and 29 at 3:30 p.m.
