Liberty Tree Planting for America 250 Celebration Kick-Off at Sharlot Hall Museum

Liberty Tree Planting for America 250 Celebration Kick-Off at Sharlot Hall Museum

April 11, 2025 marks a historic day for Prescott as Sharlot Hall Museum and the General George Crook Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) invite the community to join them in planting a Liberty Tree in celebration of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. This significant event will take place on the museum's campus at 415 W. Gurley Street, from 1 PM to 3 PM, with free admission all day.

The Liberty Tree, a Kwanzan Flowering Cherry Tree, will serve as a lasting symbol of growth, remembrance, and unity as Prescott begins its participation in the national festivities leading up to America's Semiquincentennial in 2026. As Arizona's first territorial capital, Prescott holds a special place in American history, making it the ideal location to launch the state's commemorative observance.

According to General George Crook Chapter Regent April Hay, "DAR Chapters across the nation are celebrating America 250 in a wide variety of ways. We wanted to have a permanent and meaningful way to celebrate it and appreciate Sharlot Hall Museum giving us the opportunity to plant a beautiful America 250 Liberty Tree on their campus."

The Liberty Tree planting ceremony is more than just an event; it is an opportunity to connect with American history in a meaningful way. This day represents the beginning of a year-long celebration recognizing the ideals and legacy of the United States. Guests will experience not only the planting ceremony but also the extensive history that is preserved at Sharlot Hall Museum, a treasure trove of Arizona's pioneering past.
