'Lilly' Film Premiere
The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the encore and theatrical release of “Lilly” showing June 6-12 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
“Lilly” was one of the top audience-rated films at the recent Sedona International Film Festival.
“Lilly” — starring Academy Award-nominee Patricia Clarkson, John Benjamin Hickey and Thomas Sadoski — is based on the remarkable story of Lilly Ledbetter, whose fight against pay discrimination in an Alabama tire factory took her all the way to the Supreme Court, all while facing powerful opposition.
Lilly Ledbetter is a hard-working Alabama tire factory supervisor whose singular goal is to lift her family into the middle class. Having grown up in poverty, she endures a work environment plagued by pervasive harassment for the sake of the best paycheck in her county. But as retirement approaches, Lilly discovers that the system has been cheating her, paying her close to half of what the men with the same job were earning.
Outraged, Lilly fights this injustice to the Supreme Court, the corridors of Congress, and eventually The White House — all while powerful forces try to shut her down.
“Lilly” follows the transformation of an ordinary citizen into the face of an issue, illuminating the impact a single courageous person can have.
“Lilly” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre June 6-12. Showtimes will be Friday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 6, 8, 11 and 12 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m.; and Monday and Tuesday, June 9 and 10 at 4:00 p.m.
