On Wednesday, November 5, Freddy Vilches and his Matices Latin Ensemble join forces with NAU Shrine of the Ages Choir for a FREE performance in Ashurst Auditorium. This is a Preview Concert for the community before traveling to Fullerton, CA, to perform at the national conference of the National Collegiate Choral Organization. We invite all community members, students, and NAU staff and faculty to join us for an informative and inspiring performance.

Four members of Matices Latin Ensemble—two from the U.S. and two from Chile—will be joining NAU Choirs for the California premiere of Abya Yala (“The Land in Its Fullness” or “Living and Flourishing Land"). Abya Yala draws on poetry by five Indigenous poets across Latin America who have experienced being othered. The music includes traditional folk and Indigenous music as well as Latin American ensemble in styles from each poet’s region.
