Museum of Northern Arizona Science Day and Open House

Spend the day at the Museum during this FREE Science Day in conjunction with the Flagstaff Festival of Science. Admission is free all day long.
Join MNA Botany Manager Kirstin Phillips and NAU Genetics Core Facilities Manager Jill Hager Cocking as they share the results of the Stump the Botanist challenge. Kirstin will show how her localized plant knowledge compared to the latest A.I. plant identification phone apps. Jill will show how the DNA results matched up to the botanist’s knowledge and A.I. (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Also enjoy activity tables in the Jaime Major Golightly Courtyard, including STEM activities from the Arizona Science Center. Kids and adults can make a plant DNA sequence bracelet, match potsherds to study ancient Indigenous cultures and trade routes, create their own dinosaur imprint fossil to take home, and see how scientists mapped the geology of the Grand Canyon into the now infamous Grand Canyon Dragon Map! (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

Many thanks to Arizona Public Service for sponsoring this free day at MNA.
