Prescott Writers: Lessons From a First Time Author

Prescott Writers: Lessons From a First Time Author

Dennis Royalty published his first book in 2021, "Tips and Tales: An Indiana Journalist Reflects on Craft and Career." It's a book he's proud of, but he does have some regrets. He will speak to those regrets and how you can avoid the same mistakes, emphasizing the importance of the title of your book and marketing. Dennis had a 30-year career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Indiana. At 33, he became city editor of Indiana's largest newspaper, The Indianapolis Star, leading a team of 50. His staffers won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting in 1991, one of only four Pulitzers won in the newspaper's nearly 125-year history. Dennis oversaw and helped edit the project. He retired to Prescott Valley in 2016 and has been a member of this group since 2017.Prescott Writers is hosted by Central Arizona Writers and presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
