Quilts of Change: Threads of Justice
Quilts of Change: Threads of Justice
Art in Action's newest exhibit - showing quilts designed to express social commentary - is a blockbuster.
In addition to creating utilitarian pieces for warmth & comfort, quilting has a rich history as a form of protest and a powerful tool for social and political commentary. Quilts often highlight marginalized voices and show the blurring lines between art and activism. The quilts in this exhibit represent different protests, including arpilleras from Chile, Mexico and Costa Rica, quilters and artists from Northern Arizona and others from across the United States.
Join us at 6 for refreshments; stay for music by Stealin’ the Night Away Speaker and a talk by Artist/Activist Janet May
