Star Talks: Navajo Winter Stories and the Stars
Priscilla Black, a teacher with Kayenta Unified School District, explores the vibrant Navajo stories about Coyote and the origin of constellations.KUSD has participated in teaching Lowell Observatory's astronomy and science units to their classes for three consecutive years. Priscilla Black was inspired to share cultural awareness and join the Lowell Observatory cultural and curriculum committee after she completed the classroom science units that Lowell provided. She presents winter stories to other schools near or on the Navajo Reservation. Star Talks are held in partnership with €‹Prescott Astronomy Club and presented with funding from Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
