The Getty Bronze on Trial: Art, Ownership, and Human Rights

The Getty Bronze on Trial: Art, Ownership, and Human Rights

The Classics program presents a talk by Dr. Derek Fincham (J.D. and Ph.D.), Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Online Education at South Texas College of Law Houston.

Join us for an evening exploring the remarkable story of the Getty Bronze, an ancient Greek sculpture lost at sea and later discovered in international waters, only to be embroiled in a struggle of ownership between the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the nation of Italy for over fifty years.

Free and open to the public.
