Twilight Tales: A Legacy of Legacy: A Lost Prescott Movie with Parker Anderson
Twilight Tales: A Legacy of Legacy: A Lost Prescott Movie with Parker Anderson
In 1963, an independently made movie titled Legacy was filmed in Prescott. Writer and producer Richard Snodgrass employed local residents both in front of and behind the camera, capturing a trilogy of short stories in the then-popular "New Wave" style. Legacy premiered at the Elks Theatre and was entered into international film festivals, although it never secured a distributor. Unseen for many decades, Legacy will be screened at Sharlot Hall Museum on August 12th, hosted by historian Parker Anderson, followed by a discussion with a panel of local film experts.
Also featured at this event will be Snodgrass's short film, A Child's Eyes, which addresses the John F. Kennedy assassination. This short, also long unseen, will be screened courtesy of the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas. Join us for an evening showcasing Richard Snodgrass's films, long thought to be lost.
Legacy, screened publicly for the first time in decades, contains limited but notable racial references reflective of its time. It explores mature and emotionally complex themes that may not be suitable for young audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
Before the screening, enjoy a light reception on the brick patio in front of the Transportation Building. The performance will take place in the Education Center Auditorium. Seating is limited, and tickets ($25 per person). Please note that there are no refunds.
Experience this unforgettable glimpse into Prescott’s film history and a significant moment in American memory.
