'Waltzing with Brando' Film Premiere

'Waltzing with Brando' Film Premiere

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Waltzing with Brando” showing Sept. 19-25 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.

“Waltzing with Brando” follows Marlon Brando (Billy Zane) — then the most famous actor in the world — as he filmed “Mutiny on the Bounty” and bought a tiny and uninhabitable island in Tahiti. His intent was to escape his hectic Hollywood lifestyle and show the world the path to sustainability.

To achieve this goal, he plucks Judge (Jon Heder) — an obscure but idealistic Los Angeles architect — from his stable existence and convinces him that together they could build the world's first truly sustainable ecological retreat.

This beautifully shot film captures a lesser-known pursuit of the legendary actor during a time in his life when he was shooting some of his more acclaimed roles. The dichotomy between his in-demand Hollywood projects and his pursuit of calmness and sustainability are charmingly told in this film set in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.

“Waltzing with Brando” — based on a true story — also stars Richard Dreyfuss.

“Waltzing with Brando” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Sept. 19-25. Showtimes will be Friday, Sept. 19 at 2:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3:00 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m.; Monday, Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 3:30 p.m.; and Thursday, Sept. 25 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
