Maricopa County is Not Alone in Ballot Counting

Maricopa is not the only county in the state waiting for final outcomes from Tuesday’s elections.

The Secretary of State’s office reports some 600,000 votes have yet to be counted from Tuesday’s election.

That’s more than a third of the entire number of ballots cast across the state.

More than 400,000 of those votes waiting to be tallied are in Maricopa County.

But another 80,000 are in Pima County, 27,000 are in Pinal, and 11,000 are in Coconino.

The majority of all them are uncounted early ballots.

The reason for the holdup is that each early ballot has to have its signature verified and then the ballot is tabulated.

The counties have until next Friday to get the work in.

A spokesman for the Secretary of State’s office said it more important to be right than it is to be quick.

The final official election results for federal,  and state elections is December 3rd.
