Former Arizona legislator Don Shooter, who was expelled for alleged sexual misconduct last year, is hospitalized and on life support.
Arizona Senate President Karen Fann confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday that Shooter remains in the intensive care unit at a Phoenix hospital. She says his loved ones are hoping and praying for him to recover. Fann declined to say why Shooter was initially in the hospital.
The Arizona House of Representatives voted 56-3 to expel Shooter in February 2018.
A state House investigation found Shooter had sexually harassed colleagues and lobbyists.
The Republican from Yuma was the first state lawmaker in the United States to be expelled for sexual misconduct since the #MeToo movement began.
Shooter served district 24 in the Senate from 2011 until 2013.
