Charter Schools Board's Director Resigning After DUI Arrest

LinkedIn

The executive director of the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools is resigning in the wake of his May 20 arrest on felony DUI charges.

News outlets reported that Charles Tack resigned effective Oct. 4.

The 32-year-old Tack previously pleaded not guilty to the DUI charges alleging he drove the wrong way on a metro Phoenix freeway and sideswiped an oncoming vehicle.

Nobody was injured in the wreck.

Tack's Aug. 20 resignation letter doesn't mention his arrest but said it was an honor to serve the board and that he would help "provide for a smooth transition."

The board oversees hundreds of privately operated and publicly funded charter schools.

Tack previously worked as a deputy superintendent of public instruction, a state Department of Education senior post.
