Navajo War Veteran/Retired Police Officer Dies At 88

Flags are being flow half-staff on the Navajo Nation today following news of the death of Korean War veteran and retired Navajo police officer, Oliver Kirk. 

Kirk died November 28th at the age of 88. He was originally from Ganado, Arizona. Kirk served in teh Korean War where he was wounded in battle and awarded several medals for courageous service. After the war, he returned to Ganado where he served as a Navajo Nation police officer for 34 years. Kirk is survived by his wife, Maggie, 13 children, and 37 grandchildren. Funeral services are set for this coming Wednesday at 9 a.m. at All Saints Mission Church in Ganado.
