Education Secretary To Push School Vouchers At Scottsdale Event

en.wikipedia.org

U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is scheduled to visit Arizona today.

She’s set to address a group of conservative lawmakers in Scottsdale to tout her $5 billion plan to fund tuition for private school students. DeVos will join Governor Doug Ducey for a roundtable discussion at a session of a conference of conservative state lawmakers Thursday held by the American Legislative Exchange Council.

The group known as ALEC drew protesters at the start of the 3-day event Wednesday.

DeVos is pushing her plan to create "Education Freedom Scholarships" that allow businesses and individuals to get 100% federal tax credits for donations they make to scholarship-granting groups.
