ADOT Has Reopened State Route 89A South Of Flagstaff

accuweather.com

The Arizona Department of Transportation says State Route 89A was reopened shortly after 6 a.m. Friday.  It was closed late Thursday between milepost 386, north of Pine Flat Campground, and milepost 398, near Interstate 17 because of the snowy weather.

A few inches of fresh snow have fallen in the area overnight and road conditions are icy and wet across much of northern Arizona this morning. Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information website at az511.gov.

Significant snowfall is expected to continue into Saturday morning in the Flagstaff area and higher elevations of eastern and southern Arizona. The National Weather Service says total snow accumulations will include Flagstaff receiving up to 9 inches, Payson up to 4 inches and Pinetop-Lakeside up to 10 inches.

The weather service says drivers should be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility through the weekend across northern Arizona.
