The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says deputies located several unattended packages of marijuana on U.S. Forest Service land outside of Rimrock, Arizona last Friday.
They were alerted by U.S. Forest Service staff who thought the packages were trash…but when deputies arrived they determined those packages were actually sealed bags of pot. During a search of the area, deputies located another package that contained several sheets of pre-packaged THC wax. Authorities say there were over 30 packages of marijuana weighing a total of 48 pounds at the location.
Also on Friday afternoon, Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) detectives were notified by the Sedona Police Department regarding found packages containing marijuana.
According to a written news release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Sedona Police received a phone call about suspicious packages discovered in a wooded area within city limits.
Detectives arrived to assist officers and noted the packages were similar in appearance to those found earlier on US Forest Service Land.
There were more than 230 packages, each weighing around 1.5 pounds, and a total weight at 357 pounds. A package containing THC wax was also located and weighed about 7.5 pounds.
All of the pot was apparently abandoned at the sites and an investigation continues.
