Airplane Lands In Colorado River In Mohave County

Mohave County Sheriff's Office

Authorities have recovered a small airplane that landed in the Colorado River Friday.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call of an Aircraft in the water about a mile north of the mouth of the Colorado River, in a refuge area near Lake Havasu City.

Deputies with the County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety, Search and Rescue Division responded to the scene.

Two people were hanging onto the plane when law enforcement arrived. Both people onboard did not suffer serious injuries but the plane was beginning to sink into the water.

Deputies determined the plane was a sea style craft and had not crashed but had attempted to land on the Colorado River.

Both people on the plane were transported to Windsor State Park for evaluation.
