Arizona Legislation Would Block Natural Gas Bans

tvo.org

The state senate has joined the House in approving a measure barring cities and counties from banning new natural gas hookups.

The legislation backed by Senate President Karen Fann and House Speaker Rusty Bowers is an effort to prevent the spread of gas bans already adopted by California cities to help combat climate change.

Supporters say homeowners should be able to decide for themselves what kind of energy they want to use in their home.

Opponents says climate change is an increasing problem that cities and counties should be free to tackle. The measure cleared the Senate yesterday/Thursday, a day after House approval.
