Fire crews were dispatched Tuesday to battle the flames on a blaze moving across grass and Ponderosa Pine near Sherwood Forest Estates outside of Williams.
Officials say firefighters from the Williams Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest, Sherwood Forest Estates, and Parks Bellemont Fire Departments responded to the fire located south of Interstate 40 near the neighborhood of Sherwood Forest Estates east of Williams.
The Beacon Fire was discovered about three o’clock Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was contained just after 5:00 pm at a little more than 15 acres in size.
The fire burned on both private and National Forest land.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
