Phoenix Woman Reported Missing Is Found Dead Near Payson

Coconino County Sheriff's Office

Authorities say a Phoenix woman reported missing last week has been found dead near Payson.

Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say the body of 28-year-old Britney Fairbanks was located last Saturday in the Forest Lakes area. They say deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was associated with Fairbanks, who was reported missing to Phoenix police on April 22.

A search began and crews found foot tracks and discarded clothing in the area before the body was discovered.

Sheriff’s officials didn’t disclose whether the woman’s disappearance and death are considered suspicious, saying only that the case is under investigation.

The cause of Fairbank’s death will be determined by the county Office of the Medical Examiner.
