New York Times Reports Arizona Has Highest Rate Of COVID-19 Cases In The World

Arizona’s reported death toll from the coronavirus pandemic topped 2 thousand today, with record numbers of hospitalizations and use of ventilators, as well.

The Department of Health Services says the total number of confirmed cases in the state is approaching 113 thousand. Information compiled by the New York Times from public health agencies shows Arizona has the highest rate of COVID-19 cases in the world. Governor Doug Ducey’s office says the report is misleading. Despite the grim numbers, a researcher at Arizona State University and the White House Covid-19 Response Coordinator both say an exponential rise in the percentage of people testing positive appears to be leveling off.
