Friday (9/29) KNAU in the White Mountains, KNAA 90.7, will reduce power temporarily. This is to protect tower workers as they work on an adjacent cellular antenna. Reception may be poor to non-existent in some areas including service over the repeater on 105.3. Online streaming service will not be affected. With afternoon winds forecast, the crew will likely get an early start and may not require a great deal of time for their work.

City Of Flagstaff Re-Implements Fire Restrictions

City of Flagstaff officials say they’ll return to stage-one fire restrictions Friday morning amid drying conditions in the region and lack of monsoon moisture.

The use of charcoal grills and smoking in parks will be prohibited along with all open flames and fire pits in the city limits. The decision follows similar moves by the Coconino and Kaibab national forests to re-implement bans on campfires and smoking outside established recreation areas. Officials hope to reduce the chance of human-caused wildfire during a time when monsoon rains would normally bring the region ample moisture.
