Arizona health officials report 311 new confirmed COVID-19 cases but no additional deaths. The Arizona Department of Health Services said today the state’s total of known infections is nearly 199,000. The known death toll is currently 4,771 as reports of infections and deaths continued to slow in recent days.
Of the known positive cases statewide, authorities say nearly 132,000 have occurred in Maricopa County - the state’s largest county which includes the Phoenix metro area. COVID-19-related hospitalization metrics posted on the department’s pandemic dashboard continued to trend downward and were at levels last seen in late May and early June before Arizona became a national hot spot. Navajo Nation health officials have reported a dozen new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths. That brings the total number of known infections to nearly 96 hundred and the known death toll to 493 as of Sunday night. The figures were tallied as the reservation ended another 32-hour lockdown that ended at sunrise this morning.
