AZ And NM Senators Call For Investigation Of Fort Hood Deaths

AP

Arizona Senator Martha McSally and New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich are calling for an investigation into a string of deaths at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas. Two Navajo Nation tribal members are among the fatalities.

Private Carlton Chee died this month and Army Specialist Miguel Yazzie died earlier in the summer. In all, 28 service members have died at Fort Hood this year. The senators say training accidents, suicides and homicides have been to blame for the deaths, and the lack of communication from Army officials has been disconcerting. The families of Chee and Yazzie suspect foul play and Navajo leaders have also called for investigations.
