Arizona’s total known coronavirus case count surpassed 250,000 on Wednesday and officials reported more than 1,000 people were hospitalized with the virus for the first time in months.

The Department of Health Services reported 814 additional virus cases and 39 more deaths, bringing Arizona's totals to 250,633 cases and 6,059 deaths. The department reported that 1,065 people were hospitalized as of Tuesday. The last time the dashboard reported more than 1,000 hospitalizations was in late August when Arizona was recovering from being a national hot spot during June and July. Hospitalizations dropped to the 400s in September before gradually rising through October.
