Gov. Doug Ducey held a media briefing Wednesday as the state reported more than 3,200 new known COVID-19 cases and 53 additional deaths.
Ducey urged Arizonans to wear masks in public, but stopped short of issuing a statewide mask mandate as several officials have called for. Ducey said most of the state is already under such orders. The governor also announced new requirements for masks in schools and a state allocation of $25 million for hospital staffing in the state.
In addition, the Arizona Department of Health Services released guidance for Thanksgiving celebrations that recommends limiting gatherings. More than 283,000 people have contracted COVID in Arizona since the pandemic began and over 6,300 have died.
