Coconino County officials want to double capacity to administer COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as additional doses are available from the federal government.
The plan, reviewed by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors this week, would expand its Ft. Tuthill site, open additional mobile sites throughout the county, and increase capacity for healthcare facilities and the private sector to give the vaccine.
It could result in up to 1,600 doses being given daily. Officials say the county’s entire population could be immunized by Aug. 1, but that remains dependant on local vaccine shipments.
Nearly 8,400 doses of the COVID vaccine had been administered in Coconino County as of Tuesday. All first-dose appointments at Ft. Tuthill are currently booked.
