Gambling Bill Advances Amid Transparency Questions

The Arizona House has approved a proposal allowing betting on professional and college sports at tribal casinos and sites owned by pro sports teams.

The measure, which advanced Thursday, also legalizes gambling on fantasy sports, and lets horse race tracks and fraternal organizations sell Keno tickets. Some House Democrats raised transparency and fairness questions before the vote about a major expansion of gambling in the state. Republican Governor Doug Ducey needs the bill to pass as part of his thus-far secret deal with Native American tribes to update their gambling compact.
