Civil Rights Group Sues AZ Attorney General Over Efforts To Block Biden's Immigration Policies

A civil rights organization has filed a lawsuit against Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich claiming his efforts to block President Joe Biden’s changes in immigration policy are unlawful.

The Los Angeles-based Mexican American Legal Defense filed the suit Tuesday. At issue is an agreement Brnovich made with the former Trump Administration that called for a 180-day period before Arizona would enact any executive orders on immigration from the incoming Biden Administration. Brnovich himself filed a suit last month seeking to limit the Biden administration’s actions concerning immigration policy. Since taking office, Biden has initiated an executive order pausing deportations for 100 days, though they have still taken place. The conflicting lawsuits come as a surge in migrants, particularly unaccompanied children, arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border.
