Recent Moisture Assists Firefighters Near Kingman

Fire crews near Kingman say this week’s rain and snow has helped diminish the intensity of a wildfire burning in the Hualapai Mountains.

No significant growth has been reported on the 1,400-acre Flag Fire, but residents of about 200 homes remain under evacuation orders. No injuries have been reported and no major structures have burned though firefighters still report no containment on the blaze.

Fire managers are concerned that a return of hot and dry weather in the forecast could increase fire activity. Five fire crews along with aircraft have been working on the fire line and a top-tier management team assumed command today.
