Navajo Nation Businesses Move To "Yellow" Status For Reopening

Getty Images

The Navajo Nation has reached so-called “yellow” status pertaining to business restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a recent Public Health Emergency Order, businesses on the Navajo Nation are now able to operate with fewer restrictions.

Most essential and non-essential businesses are now allowed to operate at 50% capacity. Restaurants may now allow indoor dining at 25% occupancy, with casinos open at 50%. Roadside markets, flea markets, youth programs, gyms and movie theaters are not allowed to reopen in the “yellow” phase. Businesses planning to reopen must submit a Reopening Plan to the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development. A reopening plan checklist is available at www.navajoeconomy.org. The Navajo Nation remains closed to visitors and tourists.
