Smoke From Rafael Fire Continues To Impact Communities

Prescott National Forest

Smoke from the Rafael Fire burning southwest of Flagstaff continues to impact local communities.

According to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, smoke is drifting east and northeast of the fire with high impacts possible in the Flagstaff area throughout the afternoon Tuesday. Moderate smoke is likely in the Verde Valley and Sedona.

Officials say it’s expected to continue Wednesday with the highest impacts in Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Cornville and Cottonwood. Health officials urge children and the elderly along with those who have heart and lung disease and asthma to stay indoors if they can smell or taste smoke.
