COVID-19 Delta Variant Detected In Mohave County

Officials in Mohave County have confirmed positive cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant.

In a statement released today, County Health Director Denise Burley says there is reason to be concerned for public safety as research shows Delta “to be significantly more transmissible than other variants.” The Arizona Department of Health Services monitors the circulation of variants statewide and keeps county officials informed of new cases. Burley says COVID-19 vaccines are effective against the variants and recommends vaccination for those who are eligible. The Delta variant was initially identified in India in December 2020. It was first detected in the United States in March of this year. The Navajo Nation recently confirmed its first case of the Delta variant on the Reservation.
