Coconino National Forest To Reopen Following Significant Rainfall

Coconino National Forest

The Coconino National Forest today announced it will reopen lands to the public starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 6th.

Recreation technicians are working to remote gates, locks and barriers in the coming days. The decision to reopen the forest was made based on the amount of recent rainfall across all three districts of the forest, according to officials with the Coconino. Stage II Fire Restrictions will remain in place, however, banning campfires and open fires of all types, smoking except within vehicles, and operating chainsaws or open flame torches between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
