Night Flooding And Evacuations In Navajo County After Heavy Monsoon Storms

Navajo County Emergency Management and Preparedness

NAVAJO COUNTY FLOOD UPDATE:

Extensive overnight flooding occurred in Navajo County with evacuation orders in effect  for some areas. All residents in the Silver Creek Drainage Basin from Shumway to Taylor and Snowflake were asked to evacuate Saturday night as strong monsoon storms moved across the area. County officials estimated a 1-4 hour window for evacuations to remain in place.
Blue sections on the Navajo County Public Works map indicate flooded areas.

Many roads in flood areas are closed or impassable. Emergency managers urge the public to stay alert and never attempt to cross flooded roadways or enter flooded streams, creeks or washes.
The National Weather Service says a Flood Watch remains in effect through midnight tonight across much of central and northern Arizona.
