womenshealthmag.com

Arizona has now hit a week of more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases a day. The state Department of Health Services’ dashboard reported close to 2,600 additional confirmed cases on Tuesday and 12 deaths. Hospitalizations due to the virus also continue to rise with close to 1,500 patients statewide. Arizona’s  death toll from the pandemic currently stands at 18,400. Experts have said the highly contagious Delta variant is behind surges in cases and hospitalizations being seen all over the country in the past month. Some hospital officials warn the health care systems could be on a trajectory patient loads like last summer and winter.

NAVAJO NATION CASE UPDATE
The Navajo Nation reported 15 new cases and six deaths related to COVID-19 on Monday after eight consecutive days of reporting no deaths from virus complications. The Navajo Department of Health has identified 19 communities with uncontrolled transmission, including Leupp, Kayenta, Ganado and St. Michaels. Pinyon and Tuba City regional Health Care centers continue to coordinate drive-up vaccine clinics; an additional clinic is slated for Wednesday at the LeChee health facility for individuals 12 and older.

YAVAPAI COUNTY CASE UPDATE
Yavapai County continues to follow a statewide trend of surging COVID-19 cases. The county’s health department estimates more than 92% of its cases are among unvaccinated residents. Data released by the county Monday shows a decrease in hospitalization rates over the weekend, though nearly 50 people countywide remained hospitalized for the virus as of yesterday. County Health Director Leslie Horton continues to encourage vaccination.
