AZ Senator Resigns Amid Charges Of Child Sexual Abuse

AP

An Arizona state senator facing child molestation charges is resigning after increasing pressure to step down. Democratic Senator Tony Navarete sent an email to Republican Senate President Karen Fann today saying his resignation was effective immediately. That’s according to Fann. The action came amid increasing bipartisan pressure on the lawmaker to step down from his seat representing a Phoenix-area district. Navarette was arrested last week by Phoenix police after a now-16-year-old boy came forward and said Navaratte repeatedly molested him between the ages of 12 and 15.  Navarette faces multiple charges. He has been freed on a $50,000 bond.
