Search For Conservationist Shifts To Recovery After Five Days

NPS

Crews in Yellowstone National Park have transitioned from a search effort to recovery in their attempts to locate the well-known conservationist and former park ranger Kim Crumbo.

Park officials say over the last five days personnel have scoured all the trails in the area, searched the shoreline of Shoshone Lake by boat and gridded the open water by helicopter without success.

Crews today are using sonar equipment to look for clues in the water and are continuing to search on land.

Last weekend, he and his half-brother, Mark O’Neill, were reported overdue while on a backpacking trip. O’Neill was found dead at their campsite at the lake.

Anyone with information that could help investigators piece together a timeline of events or those who were at Shoshone Lake between Sept. 12-19, are asked to call the Park Service at (307) 344-2428 or email yell_tip@nps.gov.
