Authorities Warn Of Rabid Skunks In Flagstaff

The Flagstaff Police Department is warning the public of rabid skunks within city limits. Authorities say at least four skunks have tested positive for rabies, with more tests pending. They are not isolated to any particular part of town. Signs a skunk may be suffering from the deadly disease include daytime sightings of the nocturnal animals and odd, erratic or unusually aggressive behavior. Law enforcement urges people to keep their pets leashed and make sure rabies vaccinations are up to date. If you locate a deceased animal, authorities say don’t handle it and contact the police immediately.
