Officials with the Coconino National Forest Tuesday will begin closing seasonal forest roads ahead of snowy weather in the forecast.

Officials on the Coconino National Forest say they expect to close many seasonal roads throughout the region Tuesday as snowy weather is in the forecast.

The forest’s Flagstaff and Mogollon Rim ranger districts implement the closures each year to protect roads from damage and to keep people from getting stuck and stranded in remote areas during inclement weather.

Forest Service personnel will be patrolling roads through mid-week to inform visitors of the closures.

They’re urging drivers not to drive on open roads that appear to be saturated to prevent soil erosion.

A full list of closures can be found on the Coconino National Forest’s website.
