One person is dead after officials say they collided with a semi-truck while traveling the wrong way on westbound Interstate 40 Monday.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the female driver of the sedan truck went underneath the semi at 4 a.m. Monday at milepost 204 near the Townsend Winona exit.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the highway was closed for hours as DPS investigated the crash.
