Officials with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests have lifted a campfire ban, effective immediately.
The ban was part of an effort to prevent overtaxing federal, state, local fire and medical resources during the pandemic and high fire danger season. Officials say the arrival of the monsoon has lessened the potential for catastrophic human-caused fires. However, forest officials continue to urge visitors to follow all campfire rules and make sure fires are 100% out before leaving campsites. In the United States, over 80% of wildfires are human caused.
