Arizona health officials Tuesday reported nearly 1,982 new known cases of COVID-19 and 54 additional deaths.
As of Monday, just 9% of intensive care beds were available in the state. More than a million cases of COVID have been confirmed in Arizona since the beginning of the pandemic and over 19,000 people have died from the virus.
Just under half the state’s population has been fully vaccinated. All 15 Arizona counties continue to report high levels of community transmission.
Meanwhile, Navajo Nation health officials Monday reported 19 new known cases of COVID-19 and no recent deaths. Tribal leaders are urging residents to minimize travel and wear masks. A public mask mandate remains in place on the reservation. Health facilities across the Navajo Nation continue to offer COVID vaccines. More than 1,400 people on the Navajo Nation have died from COVID since the beginning of the pandemic.
