Arizona Reports 2,000 New Known COVID-19 Cases, No Additional Deaths

Arizona health officials have reported 2,020 new know cases of COVID-19 but no additional deaths.

Nearly 57.5% of the state’s vaccine-eligible population has been at least partially vaccinated. All 15 of the state’s counties remain at high levels of community transmission.

Coconino County last week continued to report surging infections with 334 during the first full week of September. It was nearly double the number of cases recorded during the same week last year.

Meanwhile, with the highly contagious delta variant driving up case counts, more live music venues in Arizona are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for entry. More than a dozen theaters including Flagstaff’s Orpheum Theater and Phoenix’s Celebrity Theatre have put the rules in place.
