Arizona Reports Highest Single Day Of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

Arizona health officials reported the highest single day of confirmed coronavirus cases for the state Sunday, with 3,858 new positive cases. 

Sunday's daily count also marks the seventh time in the last ten days that daily cases surpassed the 3,000 mark. The Arizona Department of Health Services also reports 9 new deaths. That pushes Arizona's known positive cases to nearly 74,000 with nearly 1,600 known deaths. Some Arizona hospitals have begun surge plans to increase their capacity to treat COVID-19 patients as confirmed cases tontinue to rise and more people seek medical treatment. 

The Navajo Deartment of Health, Sunday, reported 55 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 1 new death. That brings the total number of known deaths for the tribe to 363. Reports from all 12 health care facilities on and near the Nvajo Nation indicate more than 5,000 people have recovered from the virus. The highest concentration of known confirmed cases continues to be in the Chinle Service Unit, followed by Gallup, Shiprock and Kayenta.
