Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is calling for a series of police reforms in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis.
Attorney General Brnovich sent a letter this week to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and GOP House and Senate leaders saying he reacted to the video of Floyd's death "with shock and outrage." He says it should serve as a catalyst for positive reforms.
Brnovich wants outside investigations of police involved shootings, and mandatory cultural and deescalation training for officers, among other things.
Minority Democrats in the legislature want Governor Ducey to call a special sesson on reform items.
