Arizona Republican Representative David Schweikert has admitted to 11 ethics violations, thus ending a longstanding investigation by the House Ethics Committee.
As part of the deal made today, Schweikert will accept a reprimand and agree to pay a fifty thousand dollar fine. The committee found “substantial evidence” of violations between 2010 and 2018, according to azcentral. Schweikert was faulted for using stalling tactics that helped him avoid more serious violations. The violations include undisclosed loans and campaign contributions, misuse of campaign funds for personal gains and improper spending by Schweikert’s office. The House of Representatives needs to adopt a resolution on the matter in order to make it final.
