Navajo Nation officials have finalized a Memorandum of Agreement to allocate over five million dollars from the Indian Health Service appropriated coronavirus relief funding to install more than 50 transitional water points for residents in homes without running water.

The agreement for the Navajo Nation COVID-19 Water Access Mission will also assist with water fees, provide up to 37 thousand water storage containers, and up to 3 point five million doses of water disinfection tablets for those without piped water. Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez says the effort will better serve Navajo families with water needs for handwashing and quality drinking water.
